Background

The limitations of Ecoprodukt’s previous ERP system and ecommerce solution were becoming increasingly noticeable in day-to-day operations. Slow response times and system instability were holding back the internal team and affecting the speed of the online store for customers as well.

At the same time, Ecoprodukt was expanding both its B2B and B2C business and preparing to enter additional markets. It needed a solution that would make everyday operations faster and more stable, while also handling a growing volume of product and business data, multiple pricing models and different purchasing rules for individual customer segments and markets.

For the management of its key business data and processes, Ecoprodukt chose Odoo 17 as its new ERP system. The new ecommerce platform would connect directly to Odoo and use its data throughout the online sales process.

The project therefore involved two major changes at the same time: moving to a new ERP system and building a new ecommerce platform. Together, they needed to improve Ecoprodukt’s day-to-day operations while creating a solid foundation for further online growth.

Main goal

The goal was to create a faster and more stable technology foundation for Ecoprodukt’s daily operations and integrate the new ecommerce platform with Odoo so that the team could manage key business data centrally.

The same foundation also needed to support further B2B and B2C growth across new markets, speed up the team’s daily work, streamline business processes and create more opportunities for automation.

Challenges

1. Managing the Transition to a New Ecommerce Platform and ERP at the Same Time

The existing ERP system and ecommerce solution had to be replaced without disrupting day-to-day operations or the customer purchasing journey. At the same time, the new ecommerce platform and Odoo 17 had to be prepared and connected so they could operate as one integrated sales system from launch.

2. Connecting Two Core Systems into One Sales Flow

Products, prices, stock levels, customers, orders and payments all play a role in multiple ecommerce processes. For every type of data, we needed to define exactly where it originated, how it should be synchronized and what processes depended on it, ensuring that Odoo and the ecommerce platform always worked with consistent information.

3. Supporting Different B2B and B2C Rules with Shared Data

Ecoprodukt sells the same product range to both consumers and professional partners across multiple markets. The shared product and business data therefore had to support different pricing models, purchasing options and business rules depending on the customer type and country.

4. Deciding What to Build Custom and Where to Use Existing Tools

Ecoprodukt needed to combine custom ecommerce functionality with tools that were already working effectively for the business. For each part of the solution, it was important to determine where custom development would deliver the most value and where it made more sense to retain an existing approach.

Our Solution

We built the online store on the bart.sk ecommerce platform and connected it to Odoo via API. Key business data is managed centrally in the ERP, allowing Ecoprodukt’s team to maintain it in one place while the ecommerce platform uses it throughout the sales process.

Data is synchronized between the systems several times a day and covers more than 1,800 products. As hundreds of these products are available across multiple online stores, this represents approximately 3,000 product records across the different market versions.

Odoo provides the ecommerce platform with prices, stock levels, calculated delivery times, product names and parameters, manufacturers, tags, order statuses and other data. In the opposite direction, the online store sends orders, new customer registrations and online payment information back to Odoo.

The integration also covers information that directly affects the customer experience. For example, the team can define the message shown for an out-of-stock product directly in Odoo.

One Foundation for Different Sales Models

The ecommerce platform can use data from Odoo differently depending on the rules of a particular market or customer segment.

B2B partners have their own pricing groups. The Swiss version, for example, is designed exclusively for B2B sales: purchasing is available to logged-in partners, who see prices based on their individual commercial terms.

This allows Ecoprodukt to use the same technology foundation for both retail ecommerce and dedicated B2B sales scenarios.

Custom Ecommerce Designed for Further Growth

A standalone ecommerce platform gave us the flexibility to tailor the user experience, functionality and future development to Ecoprodukt’s specific needs. For each feature, we considered whether it made sense to build it directly into the ecommerce platform or make better use of an existing tool.

Non-binding orders remained in third-party forms, Ecoprodukt embeds its own calculators through Google Tag Manager, and we created reusable components for product descriptions that allow the team to build content as needed.

Development could therefore focus on the parts that are specific to Ecoprodukt’s business: the ecommerce platform itself, the Odoo integration and its custom sales processes.

Designed Together with the ERP Partner and Ecoprodukt Team

We worked closely with both the external ERP partner and Ecoprodukt’s internal team when designing the integration processes.

The ERP partner brought in-depth knowledge of Odoo, our team contributed ecommerce expertise, and Ecoprodukt provided detailed knowledge of its own business processes. Product managers and other team members who use the systems in their daily work were also involved in key decisions.

This allowed us to design the processes in their full context, from managing data in Odoo to the way customers ultimately use that data in the online store.

Results

The new solution has given Ecoprodukt faster day-to-day workflows and a more stable ecommerce operation. Automated actions in Odoo now handle repetitive tasks, while the API integration makes working with data easier and simplifies the further development of new functionality.

Based on a comparison of work before and after the launch, the client estimates time savings of approximately 1–2 hours per employee per day. These savings come mainly from faster work in Odoo and the ecommerce platform, the automation of repetitive tasks and significantly less time spent dealing with technical issues.

The improvements in speed and stability are also reflected in the customer-facing online store. And they were achieved while replacing both the ecommerce platform and the ERP system at the same time.

The scale of the solution is also reflected in its operational numbers. Between January 2025 and September 2026, Ecoprodukt’s online stores processed more than 21,200 orders, averaging around 1,000 orders per month. The company also had 240 B2B partners, while the system synchronizes thousands of product records between Odoo and individual online stores several times a day.

Ecoprodukt now has a shared technology foundation for B2B and B2C sales across 5+ markets, making everyday operations easier while creating room for new markets, additional sales scenarios and further development of the Edimo brand.

How does the client perceive the collaboration?

What we value about bart.sk is their ecommerce experience and their ability to recommend a better solution than the one we originally had in mind. The transition to a combination of bart.sk ecommerce and Odoo was surprisingly smooth. We continue to develop the solution together, and we also appreciate that the team flags potential risks early.
