Background

SportRysy, a well-established outdoor retailer, approached us with the goal of replacing its aging e-commerce platform with a more modern, technically advanced solution. The original system was holding the business back – limited flexibility, poor technical support, and outdated infrastructure made it difficult to scale or implement new features.

A major bottleneck was the weak integration between the online store and the company’s ANS ERP system, which manages inventory, orders, and product data. The lack of efficient communication between the systems led to excessive manual work and hindered internal operations.

At first, the client considered a full system reboot – replacing both the e-commerce platform and the ERP. However, this approach would have meant high costs, long development time, and a high risk of downtime, potentially affecting day-to-day operations, customer experience, and internal processes.

Main goal

Our aim was to design a more efficient and sustainable solution that would eliminate existing technological limitations while maximizing the value of the current ERP system. We sought a way to enable the client’s continued growth without the need to rebuild the entire infrastructure from scratch – focusing on smooth operations, flexibility, and long-term scalability.

The client's brief also came with a clear set of expectations: minimize operational downtime, preserve the visual identity, and launch as quickly as possible during the peak traffic season. It was therefore essential to create a solution that wouldn’t disrupt existing workflows but would still deliver meaningful technological modernization.

From the start, we identified several technical and strategic challenges:

Our Solution

To ensure the transition to the new solution would be as smooth as possible, we opted for a strategic approach that didn’t require a full restart of the entire online store. Instead of building everything from scratch, we proposed splitting the project into two phases, with the goal of reducing costs while laying a stronger technological foundation.

In the first phase, we recommended upgrading the ANS ERP system to its latest version, which already included all the key interfaces and functionalities required for a modern e-commerce setup. The client carried out the upgrade independently, while we provided consultation and technical support to ensure the transition was smooth and risk-free.

The second phase focused on redesigning the online store and fully integrating it with the new ANS system. The goal was to automate all critical processes and minimize the need for manual input from the team.

  • Consistent data across channels – product info, availability, and loyalty points are always up-to-date – online and in-store.

Skialp & Cross-Country Equipment Set Builder

This feature allows customers to easily order a complete skialp or cross-country skiing set. The system automatically filters compatible gear – like skis, bindings, skins, and boots – and applies a bundled discount. This makes the selection process faster, clearer, and beginner-friendly – reducing cart abandonment, speeding up decisions, and increasing average order value.

Running Shoe Configurator

The running shoe configurator helps customers easily and intuitively choose the ideal footwear based on their preferences and needs. The selection process takes place in several steps – the user first selects their gender, then the type of running activity (road, trail, allround, barefoot), and finally specifies parameters such as distance or terrain type (e.g., technical surface, soft ground, snow).

The configurator combines expert knowledge with high-quality UX design to create a personalized shopping experience. It reduces uncertainty during the decision-making process and helps customers discover the models that best fit their needs.

Integrated Loyalty Program

SportRysy rewards its customers for repeat purchases through a multi-tier loyalty program offering discounts of up to 12%. At checkout, customers can also easily apply a gift voucher, discount code, or a membership discount from a partner organization – simply by uploading a photo of their membership card, after which the discount is automatically applied upon verification.

A key advantage of this setup is that all rules, discount tiers, and revenue tracking are configured directly in the ANS ERP system – the online store simply displays this data and applies it during the purchase. This simplifies program management, eliminates the need for data duplication, and gives the retailer full control without requiring changes to the front-end interface. For the customer, the program is fully automatic; for the store operator, it’s maximally efficient.

Enhanced Shopping Experience

The SportRysy.sk online store is a great example of how even an extensive product range can feel clear and modern. Detailed product pages include technical specifications, user reviews, tests, and videos. The gallery is rich and flexible, allowing color variants to be previewed directly in the thumbnails.

To support purchasing decisions, customers benefit from features such as:

  • integration with the store's POS system, showing real-time product availability including specific sizes,
  • clear labeling of discounts and last-in-stock items,
  • estimated delivery dates calculated automatically based on availability and logistics,
  • the option to recommend a product to a friend or ask a question directly from the product page,
  • advanced filters tailored to sports and outdoor categories,
  • customer reviews and ratings shown directly on the site.

These reviews complement official manufacturer information with real user experiences and help new visitors orient themselves more quickly. Shoppers don’t have to look for ratings on external sites – everything is in one place. This also increases the site’s relevance in search engines and boosts organic traffic.

The result is a shopping process that’s fast, convenient, and free of unnecessary friction – just as modern customers expect.
